Greetings, friends!
Attached is a photo of me taking our friends from our house to theirs, in a desperately impoverished area within Gem Village.
(Please don’t be upset over the lack of seat belts. It’s a only five minute drive, & speed limits are very low in the city, so traffic casualties are rare…Maybe the Lord will use you to provide us with a better vehicle! )
The kids & the moms are always attentive to the lessons, & they remember what they’ve been taught. Their frequent heartfelt expressions of gratitude for what we do really fuels our motivation to serve them. And I have to express our heartfelt gratitude to those of you who are praying for us & financially supporting us, because you fuel our ability to serve them. Daghang salamat (thank you very much)!
We’re thrilled at how our sponsored child (Jillian) & her mom (Jevey) are helping us minister to their neighbors. They are like the “man of peace” Jesus told his disciples to look for when going to minister in a new place.
By the way, Jillian was a runner-up in a contest at Family Circus, a ministry to the poor where Gina & I serve on Saturdays. Out of about 2500 in attendance, Jillian was the eighth highest scorer in a Bible memory contest. Unfortunately, only the five highest won bicycles.
*sigh* Gina & I would be so thrilled to be able to present Jillian with her very first bicycle. If only…
Would you please prayerfully consider whether you should sponsor a child to be able to go to public school? For $28 per month, or 92c per day, you could provide uniforms, transportation, books, materials, & some healthy groceries for one of Jillian’s friends. None of that money will go for anything except helping the child & his/her family. To keep the sponsored family accountable, we have a detailed form describing the program’s limitations (no assistance for anything unrelated to the child’s education) & obligations (such as the family’s discipleship), as well as how we must be extremely careful not to let funds be wasted or misused. Each parent & each child will have to sign the form & agree to cooperate before they receive help.
Here’s a one-minute testimony from one of our disciples:
Please pray to the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into his harvest.
I am trying to get in touch with John Allcot. I am trying to find his email address. I have been a “fan” of John because I praise God for John’s ministry at HotAir.com.
Keith! I’m so sorry; I never considered that someone might comment on these posts. My email is jgapinoy@gmail.com. But if you’re the Keith I’m thinking you are, you already know that now. 🙂
