Gina & I are overwhelmed at the response from my last email. I received far more replies from that email than from any previous one, so we know that you love Gina. We are happy to report that she is much better now. The problems were caused by astigmatisms, as well as by early symptoms of menopause (she’s only 45). The total cost for the rest of her various other appointments thankfully was less than her glasses/eye exam, which set us back about $120.
We are having some very good attendance for our twice weekly* Bible Fellowship meetings. In the attached photo, three of the adults & all of the kids are from a very poor area. I’m guessing they have never eaten in a place like this, with dishes like this. They are always so happy & grateful when they come here. All of them–including the kids–are very attentive during the lessons, & they remember what they’re taught.
*We had been doing three per week, but I cut back because I was concerned about Gina’s health. We may expand again eventually.
Have I mentioned to you that I’ll soon be teaching a missions course at Calvary Bible Institute Davao? I’m so excited about getting Filipinos excited about missions!
We’re asking our disciples to give testimonies on video. We’ll soon have several videos for you, but because of our slow internet, this one took almost seven hours to get on YouTube! Hopefully we’ll be able to send you a few others by the next time I write.
Ella calls us Kuya (koo-yah), which means older brother in Cebuano, & Ate (ah-tay), older sister. Filipinos always use respectful titles for anyone who’s older.
Re. “I hope this is not the end,” I asked her what she meant by that! She was afraid that our Bible Fellowships would end eventually, like a college course or something. I assured her that I don’t plan on that happening.
Re. “Facebook,” she writes to us often there, asking for advice.
Just a reminder: We sure could use some help financially. Our 13 yr old car has a fairly bald tire & broken a/c. More people coming to our meetings means more food to buy. And the medical bills. Please prayerfully consider a one-time gift or a recurring amount. Even $10 a month would be quite helpful! You may click the Ripe For Harvest link under my name below for info on giving.
Thank you for all of the support we’re already getting, & of course for your powerful prayers which help keep us going.
Please pray to the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into his harvest.
