OK, I had planned on posting condensed versions of all of our DCO reports here, from oldest to newest, as soon as I got some free time. But I have not gotten enough time! So for now I’ll just post this summary of what was accomplished from August to mid-December 2013, & the vision for 2014:
To summarize what’s been accomplished in just under 4 1/2 months of Davao City Outreach in 2013:
–We have won souls & we’re discipling them, teaching them to witness, pray, study the Word, & obey Jesus.
–We have had several opportunities to preach the Gospel–usually because I’m American–from public school assemblies to churches to a funeral.
–We have taught Gospel-oriented “Morals/Ethics” classes to sixth-graders weekly in a public school.
–We have volunteered for five hours every week at a Gospel-preaching ministry to the poor.
–We have made a good start at learning Cebuano.
–We have been fully trained by Kairos (as well as by Pathways while in the US) to prepare Filipino missionaries to go into the Lord’s harvest, often to places where Filipinos are better able than Westerners to serve (the Middle East, Philippine animist tribes, Philippine Muslim areas).
–We have ministered to beggars by sharing food & the Bread of Life with them.
–We have established important relationships, including mentors, whom God has used to bless us greatly, & we know that this will increase as time goes on.
New things in store for 2014 (please pray about them!):
–Any day now, we’ll learn whether we can outreach in a certain university (a different one than the one we mentioned before [which we still have hope for]).
–Gina will minister to poor teen girls by teaching them jewelry-making (one of you is helping us greatly in this) & having Bible studies.
–In a month or so we’ll begin laying out to you our vision for helping children attend school who otherwise couldn’t.
–We pray that eventually we’ll have at least two Bible study groups here every week.
–Whatever else the King will surprise us with. 🙂
